22 Jan Stories from our supporters: conquering the maths mountain
Posted at 07:42h in Mathmoms
Your hands are sweating, your stomach cramps, your heart wants to jump out of your chest; we call it the ‘Maths Feeling’. For twelve years our whole family had to deal with it, even our cat and two dogs felt it!
Our daughter was born so premature, that statistically she was too small to survive and if she did, she could be severely challenged. She turned eighteen last year and though there were many obstacles, she passed Matric Maths Literacy with hard work, perseverance and many prayers.
Sometimes you come upon big rocks with sharp edges on your path of life. There is no way around, no easy solution and some of them have ‘MATHS’ written all over. Getting over them makes you stronger when you reach the other side, even if your knees are bleeding or a toe got broken!
The truth is: we were not all created to be good at Maths. Some of us are meant for different things, but unfortunately you have to get over that rock. Take every hand that reaches out to help you, try your best, even if your best is only 25% and you will become a stronger person along the way. Never ever value yourself by marks for a Math paper.
Mathematical greetings on your journey!
Best wishes for every MathMom and every Mom in Elsies River.
